What systems will TrainTracks run on? If your operating System is
Microsoft Windows, TrainTracks will probably run on your computer provided
you have space on you hard drive to load it. To be sure, just download and
install CatchTracks(It's Free), run it then delete it. If it works,
then Traintracks will work.
The program installs correctly, so says the setup but when started, it cant
find files? The Database or one of the support files is probably
missing or corrupt. Run the Setup.exe file again and select the button
"Remove TrainTracks". Then rerun Setup.exe and install the program and
support files into the default location
C:\ProgramFiles. If this doesn't work, I
will need more details. Let me know.
Is there a maximum number of employees? I'm sure there is but I
haven't heard of it being reached. The database will grow slowly as you add
employee records and training. And depending on the available space on your
hard drive, the database could exceed it. The TrainTracks
program folder requires 1.32mb which includes 580kb for the database. Tests run show no appreciable increase in database size for having 200
employees vs. the initial 3 employees the program comes with..
I have blank lines in my Training Grid. Why, and what do I do? After
entering the first Training Course for a new employee, you may get an
empty blank line added under the new training line. It's a bug I haven't
found a fix for. But, to remove a blank or a no longer needed training
line from the training grid, just click in the far left column of that line
to highlight the entire row, then hit the delete key from your keyboard.
Blank lines in the grid will affect reports and may cause save errors.
Is there a way to turn off the pop up notifications when an employee's
D.L. has expired? That might be a good option for a later version
of TrainTracks but for now you'll have to change the date.
I keep all my employees in an Excel spreadsheet. Can the information be
converted for Traintracks? There probably is but I couldn't say.
Someone very familiar with Microsoft Access (the database) and Microsoft
Excel could probably do it. Send me the solution and I'll post it in
Helpful Hints below.
Is there a maximum number of training lines for
an employee and can courses from different position be added. A
scroll bar will appear when the number of training lines exceeds what can be
displayed on the tab. To add training courses from a different position to
an existing employee, just temporary change that employee's Position on the
Company Information Tab and add the courses
Can a Training course be
changed after the record has been saved? Yes, just click on an existing
Training course to pull up the Required Training window for that employee's
position and the old course will be replaced by the new course double
My photo doesn't upload for a new
record. After starting CatchTracks the first time you upload a photo into
a new record it probably won't show up. Just repeat the process and the your
photo will appear. Following photo uploads will work fine until you exit and
restart the program. I haven't figured out why this takes place yet.
And will my photo be altered by the program? No, CatchTracks will only alter
a copy of your photo it stores in the database with the other information.
Your original photo is unchanged and you can move, edit, or delete it after
saving a copy to CatchTracks..
When adding or updating a date, say an employee's birthday, it's
quicker to left click on the month, day, or year and edit it via the keyboard
than scroll through years in the calendar display.
Hit Save to display an employee's name on the main form after inputting it
on the Personal Information tab.
On the Training Grid an * in the far left column indicates a new line ready
for input. A triangle in the far left column indicates a line that should
contain data. If it is blank it should be deleted or edited. Click the blank
line in the far left column to highlight the entire line. Then hit Delete on
your keyboard to remove it. Click in a blank cell to edit/update it.
Dates not updated when doing multiple edits/additions of dates in the
Training Grid before hitting Save may result in an error or the last date input
not being saved. This can be fixed by inputting the last date twice into the
same cell. Also, the dates are saved if you add another course then delete the
line later. Hitting Save after each line input will also fix the problem of
loosing the last date when doing multiple edits/additions.
A new employee's orientation checkboxes may be shaded until the Save Button
